Happy Fall! and a CONTEST!
Woah, was I really away for three months?
Thanks for all your sweet comments and thoughtful emails.
And Happy Fall!

It’s been a busy time. My car has had two flat tires since we last spoke. I taught an intensive one-month course that was really tough, but really rewarding. I went to the Minnesota State Fair. I traveled to Boston, where I met up with dear friends and made some new ones. I’ve been applying for jobs, and reading and writing like mad. I’ve taken the air conditioner out of the window, and gotten out my box of winter clothes.
And, of course, I’ve knit a bunch of stuff that will keep me in blog posts for a little while. I promise.
But first things first: during my hiatus, I missed my 2nd blogthday! Flintknits is two years old! So to celebrate my anniversary, a contest.
Just leave a comment on this post telling me what one pattern you’re most excited to knit this Fall/Winter, and I’ll enter you in a drawing to win …
A free copy of Pepperknit’s Tapestry Cowl pattern [ravelry link], emailed to you by Minty herself, plus two skeins of Koigu KPM yarn in the colors of your choice (or, if you have a wool allergy, we can brainstorm yarn substitutes).
Have you seen the Tapestry Cowl? It’s amazeball:
A reversible, gorgeous, brocade-print cowl, and the pattern comes with links to instructional videos where Minty shows you how to do a crazy, clever, two-sided cast-on, and how to double-knit.
So leave a comment with a link to the most exciting knitting project you’ve got planned, and get entered to win the awesomeness!
p.s. to those of you who have sent condescending, preachy messages scolding me for my use of naughty language, swears, vulgarity, and/or the term “grown-ass”: BITE ME.

Hey, welcome back! I can’t wait to see what you’ve been knitting. As for me, I’m looking forward to doing some sweater designing this season. I’m mostly looking forward to figuring out all of the complicated measurements so I can get on with the actual knitting.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Not gonna lie, I’m really excited to knit Obama-rama–buying the yarn tomorrow, and finishing it before election day. For reals. I knit fast, y’all.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
As soon as I finish all of my holiday knitting (Halloween costumes, Christmas gifts, decorations, sweater for my son, eight thousand spontaneous cast-ons) I will be knitting myself a Sunrise Circle Jacket from Kate Gilbert’s pattern (Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sunrise-circle-jacket). I am SO EXCITED. I have some gorgeous Shetland wool and it is all I can do to keep from nuzzling it all day long.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Heheheee,,, this is really funny!
I just bought the Tapestry Cowl pattern a few days ago and can’t wait to finish a vest I am currently knitting to start it, so I guess it is my most exciting next knitting project!
(I did steal some time from the vest and tried the cast on and the double knit, it looks really promising!)
October 16th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Hurray, you’re back! i have a few sock patterns that are calling my name these days, include Apollo and Artemis, the bacchus socks and the knotty or nice socks. I also am desperate to cast on for a beret in a lovely soft, fall pink yarn that I bought from A Verb for Keeping Warm.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Tapestry Cowl
Really, I’d been thinking about it. OK, next most exciting knitting project: Wisteria http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wisteria
October 16th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Well - for me it’s not Fall/Autumn, it’s Spring! So for me I am making Prepster by Vickie Howell, an Offset Wraplan for one of buddies who’s about to pop and 3 of Boyish Monkey by Fuzzy Mitten for my pals who are off camping/festival-ing who would dearly love a pet monkey to fetch them things.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I’m looking forward to finally knit the urban aran cardigan a la brooklyntweed. Tweed and fall are just made for each other!
October 16th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
I haven’t even gotten the new issue of Interweave Knits yet but I saw this pattern on Ravelry and would love to knit it:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/new-pea-coat
October 16th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Funny, I just bought the Tapestry Cowl pattern a few weekends ago to kint for a friend. I’m also looking forward to Knitspot’s Autumn Arbor Stole and the Wooly Wormhead Mystery Beret.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Yay, welcome back!!! You have such a lovely pictures up too!!
My knitting “plans” since very little has been getting done…is to make the clapotis…FINALLY.
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html
I scored some beautiful knitpicks yarn that is crying to be the clap. Hee…just wait until your preachy messengers google search that :O)
October 17th, 2008 at 12:04 am
Happy Blogiversary! No need to stick me in the contest. Just looking forward to hanging out again, even if it is in February!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:05 am
I just ordered the Shibui Transition Gloves pattern and I’m anxiously awaiting it’s arrival so I can begin — already have some Louet Gems to make a pair for a friend and myself. But I’m also looking forward to finishing my Clapotis in Colinette Jitterbug and maybe starting Alhambra by Anne Hanson for my mom.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:11 am
happy blogiversary!
i’m looking forward to knitting knittingschooldropout’s garter yoke cardigan. can. not. wait.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Happy blogiversary!
I’m knitting for Christmas right now, but the next project just for me will be Venezia Pullover in some nice Drops Alpaca. Can’t wait to cast on!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Would it be cheesy to say the February Lady Sweater? Honestly, that’s next on my list but I can’t decide what colour to make it in. Ravelry has me flip flopping on colour all the time. Welcome back!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Happy blogaversary and I’m glad to see you back! That cowl is one of my favourite things, I love Minty. But have you seen Kate Gilbert’s Wintergreen mitts? (http://www.kategilbert.com/ms_wintergreen.html) — there are some fantastic versions on Ravelry that have made me fall in love with this pattern. My only problem now is choosing the yarn to do them in!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Beautiful photo, happy blogthday and fall.
I am planning the spiral scarf from Knitting Nature - I’ve had that book for well over a year and love so many of the projects but still haven’t made anything from it! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spiral-scarf
October 17th, 2008 at 12:31 am
I’m definitely going to knit the Nantucket Cardigan from the new Twinkle Town & Country Knits! (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nantucket-cardigan)
October 17th, 2008 at 12:32 am
Happy blogiversary!
I am excited about knitting the Endpaper Mitts this season!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:48 am
I’m super excited to knit Koolhaas (finally, i’ve false started 3 times now) and I really want to do a second pair of Endpaper mitts because I lost my first pair
Also I’m excited your back.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:51 am
Sad to say, but I’ve only recently taken up knitting again and will be flexing the fingers with some of knitty’s fetchings. Never can have too much handwear.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:53 am
I want to make Rogue!
… again.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:09 am
I am going to start the Knotty gloves (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/knotty-gloves), because I need new gloves and these look great.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:15 am
I’m most excited to knit the Cabled Blanket Cardigan. I’ve started but I think it might take a while.
Happy anniversary.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:35 am
Happy Blogiversary! Brooklyntweed’s new Porom hat is definitely high on my list.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:36 am
Welcome Back/Happy Blogthday! You were missed. And so was your god damn vulgarity….
October 17th, 2008 at 2:06 am
Happy blogiversary!
As for fall, I am strongly leaning towards knitting the marseilles pullover (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marseilles-pullover) in wool. And maybe a vest. And then when winter comes, new mittens . . .
October 17th, 2008 at 2:41 am
Congratultaions on your 2nd blogthday!
I’m really excitet to start a shawl called Anglaise. It is absolutely lovely. It’s not really an exciting thing to knit, but I just can’t wait for it to be finished, wearing it on a cold evening =). It will be knit in Regia Silk, kitt (005). On Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/anglaise , on the web: http://www.yarnover.net/patterns/shawls/nurhanne/index.html
October 17th, 2008 at 2:42 am
…ofcourse I meant to write Congratulations.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:52 am
catriona by debbie bliss. it looks nice on everyone who’s made it.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/catriona
October 17th, 2008 at 3:02 am
I’m going to be the millionth person to make the Central Park Hoodie! Fall really makes me want a new sweater.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:19 am
i consider it a wasted day if i haven’t used the term “grown-ass” at least once during the day. I think I’m most excited to knit the Minimalist Cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/minimalist-cardigan). I’ve had the yarn for months and I can wait for the weather in SoCal to get “brisk” enough for me to need a sweater.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:23 am
Good to have you back,
I’m hoping to have a go at knitting the Swiss-cheese-scarf - still deciding what yarn to try.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/swiss-cheese-scarf
October 17th, 2008 at 3:48 am
The “Scaruffle” for myself, as I *need* another scarf. And, hopefully, another FLS in the frogged yarn from a cobblestone… sorry, Hubby.
Great to have you back!
October 17th, 2008 at 3:50 am
Scaruffle…. I need another scarf.
Plus, I’m hoping to knock off another FLS in the yarn from frogged sweater… sorry, Hubby.
It’s great to have you back.
October 17th, 2008 at 4:07 am
Welcome back! I can’t wait to see all your new projects. i’m looking forward to knitting fairly isle the new pattern by knit and tonic. Plus cosmic pluto has a great new mitten pattern coming out soon.
October 17th, 2008 at 4:23 am
Welcome back, and what a gorgeous autumn picture!
I’m actually casting on right now for a cowl! I’m making it up as I go, using some sock yarn that’s just too nice to put on my feet
I’m seriously drooling over the Tapestry cowl, too!
October 17th, 2008 at 4:32 am
I NEED to knit an aran this fall/winter. I’m almost sure it’s going to be the Staghorn aran, from A Fine Fleece. I feel all warm and toasty just thinking about it…
October 17th, 2008 at 4:37 am
Great to see you back.
Don’t believe I’ve commented before, but I’ve lurked.
What am I most excited about knitting this fall/winter? Hmm.. Good question, really. I guess I’m excited about getting to use up my stash yarn since I am now a poor student and no longer making a whole lot of money (need. job.)
I’m most excited about knitting BrooklynTweed’s Hemlock Ring Blanket out of a ton of Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply I’ve got stashed from a long time ago. I originally bought it for a sweater, but brown doesn’t suit me. So blanket it is!
October 17th, 2008 at 4:53 am
good to see you here again, i haven’t been posting much either, work, work work!!! but i love your photo of fall here. gorgeous. honestly i’m not very exciting/original when it comes to what to knit, it’s going to be central park hoodie with malabrigo. i love easy, wearable patterns, especially with tons of many knitters pattern notes that i can reference.
(let me know the next time you’re in NE area, i met up with erin in NYC, it was fun!)
October 17th, 2008 at 4:54 am
Welcome back, will be nice to see what other beauties you have knit.
On top of finishing my feb lady sweater (!) I’d like to knit a Nella Cropped Cardigan by Katie Rose Pryal .. pretty shape, pretty yarn, what more can you ask..?
October 17th, 2008 at 5:06 am
I love the cowl…it’s been in my queue for a long time and I just took a Fair Isle class! The pattern has intrigued me from first glance!
My next project is my first pair of fingerless mitts. I want to do cables too (first time as well). I have some black Sundara yarn that I think would be perfect!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:06 am
So glad you’re back. I have your fantastic FLS ready to go (using Ultra Alpaca) and also Wisteria (using Kathmandu Aran) and I’m continuing a cowl kick. I’ve knit a few chunkier patterns so far and now I’m excited to knit some with sock weight yarn and a lacy pattern!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Welcome back girl! I get SOSOSOSO many compliments on my February “dude looks like a” Lady sweater!! And I am a GROWN-Ass Woman!! Right now I’m knitting Ingenue from Custom Knits. After that it will be Wendy Bernard’s Favorite Cardigan. The COLD is COMIN’ here in the Midwest!!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:09 am
Yay Fall! My knitting up until the holidays will be dominated by a lace stole I’m knitting for a friend’s wedding on New Year’s Eve. The yarn just came in the mail this week - silk lace from hedgehog fibres in Cork, Ireland in a gorgeous blue/green shade called shallow pond. I’m itching to cast on but fist have to finish other gifts: mittens (craft exchange), hat (birthday), and baby sweater (shower). Now, to pick a pattern.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:13 am
I can’t wait to see the new issue of Twist Collective…and I am excited about a lot of projects and don’t know what I am going to knit first; maybe a sweater from Custom knits
October 17th, 2008 at 5:15 am
Glad that you are back. That photo is so striking. I am going to make my first Kaffe Fassett design for my big progect. Started swatching and am playing with the colours. Quite excited about this pullover, it has been on my list for a long time.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:15 am
I’m looking forward to FINISHING the Secret of Chrysopolis, and making the Woolly Wormhead Mystery Beret to match (in quadrupled laceweight malabrigo, I hope!) Not that it’s Fall/WInter here in the southern hemisphere…
October 17th, 2008 at 5:16 am
the bacchus socks!
and welcome back!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Welcome back! My very exciting project for fall is a February Lady Sweater knit out of Ultra Alpaca. I have swatched. I have practiced the lace. I am ready, and fully prepared to ignore all my holiday knitting for this until the last minute!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:27 am
I am so excited to be knitting the Fiddlehead Mittens!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:32 am
hi! *waving wildly* and welcome back.
so what am i excited about knitting? well larissa of stitch marker just blogged about an idea she had for a scarf http://larissmix.typepad.com/stitch_marker/2008/10/weeping-wonder.html and i’m thinking of taking up the challenge. i’m also planning on dyeing the yarn myself too. maybe when i get back from rhinebeck i’ll start working on it.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:44 am
Happy belated Blogthday! I always look forward to your newsy “I’m back” posts.
My very exciting fall project? I want to knit a vest, but don’t have a pattern in mind yet.
ps. I love your use of “grown-ass” . . . plus all your well-placed adjective-y uses of my favorite colorful words.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:49 am
I love your colorful words!
Anyways, this season I’m excited to knit the Tapestry Cowl, actually! As well as a couple of sweaters — Tempest by Ann Weaver with Fleece Artist BFL in teals and browns and a simple raglan sweater with fingering weight yak/merino blend but knit on larger needles to make it a sheer, netting, type of sweater to wear over camisoles, etc.
So glad to see your blog in my reader again!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:54 am
Welcome back - personally I love the phrase “grown ass woman” and have used it in public, so hey…
As for upcoming projects, am finishing up a Lady Sweater -
But my big goal this winter is to knit down my stash, and my small goal is to try some more colorwork. I’m hoping to design some kind of fair isle, hip lenght or below, vest or cap sleeve cardigan thing. Color/pattern at the yoke and a little bottom border, and a neutral as the body. We’ll see how it goes.
if it all blows up, I’m imagining a few hats and gloves with smaller colorwork in ‘em. (Plan big, but have a backup, right?)
Take care and good luck on the job hunt.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:55 am
It doesn’t seem quite as long of a hiatus because I’ve seen you pop in at Flickr, which reminds me that I really can’t wait for your cabley colorwork mitten pattern. That’s what I’m looking forward to knitting most.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:01 am
Well, my most exciting project is the February Lady Sweater. After that its various sweaters, mittens and hats for the kids.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:12 am
Hmmm … this isn’t very exciting to most people, but I am THRILLED about making some thrummed mittens. I always have the coldest hands all winter, and I’m hoping these mittens will finally solve the problem.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:13 am
Hmmm.. the pattern I am most excited about knitting this fall is Wisteria in some amazing Dream in Color (Cloud Jungle) and hopefully designing an Aran for my Mom using the FLAK recipe.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:15 am
I can’t think past Christmas and I have bunch of knitting to do before Santa arrives including scarves, mittens, and a few sweaters.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:19 am
As a regular lurkster here, I have to say it’s very nice to see you back!
I’m going to be working on the Catriona (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/catriona) cabled vest just as soon as I get my hands on the wool!
October 17th, 2008 at 6:20 am
Welcome back! I like the naughty language, swears, vulgarity, and especially the term “grown-ass.”
For your contest - I am particularly excited to spin the yarn for and knit myself a fall colored Turn a Square hat. I have already tried the pattern once, and can’t wait to do it in my own handspun. (Then I can wear it on late fall hikes in the woods!)
Happy Blogiversary!
October 17th, 2008 at 6:33 am
Happy second blogiversary!
I guess it’s not a new pattern, but I just discovered the Very Tehri fingerless mitts by Yarnissima and I LOVE them. I can’t wait to knit up my own pair.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:39 am
Welcome back, sounds like you’ve been busy! Can’t wait to see your knits. I’m soooo wanting to cast on the Drop Collar Cabled Jacket (Rav link) http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/drop-collar-cabled-jacket
October 17th, 2008 at 6:41 am
[…] celebrating her second blogiversary. Leave a comment about the most exciting knitting project you have planned and you could win Koigu […]
October 17th, 2008 at 6:42 am
Happy blogiversary!! Hee hee - my most exciting planned project is the February Lady Sweater.
I’m trying to decide which color of the STR Raven series to buy for it…
October 17th, 2008 at 6:43 am
I feel like the only knitter not to have made a FLS, so I am definitely going to make one in some lovely burgundy merino. But there will be no knitting for me until I have finished knitting a Durrow sweater for my patient husband. Well, maybe a little knitting for me, a sock here, a cowl there. Ooooh, and a little lace with some lovely Fyberspates silk I have tucked away. Enough to keep me going till spring, anyway.
Happy Blogiversary! x
October 17th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Good to see you back! I really should have gone to the MN State Fair since I just moved to MN. Anyway, I am excited to knit a hoodie this fall if I can find affordable yarn. The yarn hunt is kinda exciting.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:48 am
I’ve got a lot in my queue, but the one project that I’ve actually started (and designed my own stranded pattern for), is for a pair of Mittens+Gloves=Glittens by Kathy Cochran (ravelry link).
I’m SO excited to walk around with them on my hands this winter.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:50 am
Welcome back!
Well, my knitting is forced to be somewhat low impact at the moment, so I’ve actually been in a cowl frame of mind recently…both the Tapestry Cowl and Confection have been at the top of the queue.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:54 am
Happy blogiversary and yay fall! I’m glad you’re back, and I agree, the tapestry cowl is genius, if only I had half the skillz of minty. I’m heading to rhinebeck this weekend and yarn for the GROWN-ASS woman sweater is on my list!
October 17th, 2008 at 6:55 am
I want to knit Elinor’s Vespergyle mittens. Baaaaaad.
Welcome back to you and your Grown-Ass Self.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:00 am
I just bought the yarn to make two pair of Mim Knits’ new Dimorphous Mittens. Can’t wait to knit those. Also, absolutely love the tapestry cowl!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:07 am
Yay! I’m excited to see a post from you!
I’m also excited about buying yarn for the Kyra sweater at the NYS sheep and wool festival this weekend.
And I would be fantabulously excited to win this contest.
the end.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:08 am
after i finish or frog a few things, i’m hoping to knit the lady of the lake cardigan by handmaiden. i bought the kit in Vancouver last year and really REALLY want to do it. if my kids, life and the universe in general will allow me the time to make it…
October 17th, 2008 at 7:08 am
I was so excited to see your blog “lit” up on bloglines today - yay! Welcome back! No preaching from me, I personal bring it on. Anyways, what pattern am I looking forward to…Kirtsen of through the Loops has this great new sweater coming Acer-”something”, and I want it! Otherwise anything with a leaf motif is yummy this time of year or anything with my new handspun fetish.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:12 am
Happy blogthday! In all honesty, and I’m totally not pandering here, I’m totally psyched about knitting the February Lady Sweater. Looking back through the comments, it looks like I’m not the only one, either! I’ve got some pretty cranberry Cascade 220 that I think is going to look great. Thanks for such a fun giveaway!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:24 am
I think I want to knit the Joni hat that you recently made from Through the Loops. It’s fucking gorgeous. I also want to knit, like, one hundred pairs of warm-ass winter mittens, possibly with bobbles, even though it’s so hot here.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:27 am
I love these Bird In Hand mittens. (http://www.kategilbert.com/ms_birdinhand.html)
Glad to see you back again! What a treat!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:30 am
Welcome back! I am actually really gung ho to start a pair of Swedish Fish mittens! Granted, I’m cheating and subbing in some striping yarn for the multiple colors in the pattern… still!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:31 am
hiya!
So happy to read from you again! I am wearing my wonferfull FLS today. FriendS of mine are learning to knit just because of you (they are all jealous of my wonderfull sweater) and I am learning very interesting words reading you (I’m french)
Grown-ass sounds very well, indeed!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:33 am
happy blogiversary! I just cast on for 28-thirty by the zephyr girls, and i love it. It was one of those projects I had to stop everything and buy the yarn for, and then life got in the way. I’m also working on my spindling, so some simple hats and scarves once I have enough of my own yarn will certainly be in the “must knit now” category.
Did you see the butter princesses at the fair?
October 17th, 2008 at 7:33 am
Hi, my project for this fall/winter is Norah Gaughan’s Annikki: http://www.berroco.com/ng1/ng1_annikki_pv.html
Hopefully it will be finished before spring…
I really enjoy reading your blog!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:35 am
I really want to knit Lily. I don’t know that I’ll get to it this season, judging the number of WIPs I already have staring at me.
Congrats on your milestone!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:36 am
I’m going to be doing a Hudson Hat. The exciting part is hand-dyeing the little hanks of yarn since I don’t have enough scraps. The mad scientist in me comes out!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Welcome back! Love this cowl.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Glad you are back. I’m planning to knit the Sheep and Wool hat found here — http://emilysaid.blogspot.com/2007/09/new-pattern-sheep-wool-hat.html
I need a good warm hat this winter.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Ahhhahaha! Someone was offended by “grown-ass”? That’s my favorite part. I’ve seriously been trying to work it into my daily conversations (difficult, since I teach little kids).
Anyway, without trying to sound like too much of a suck-up, I am most excited about knitting the FLS. I really am. Last Xmas my partner bought me a major gift certificate to my LYS and I’m going to (finally) use it by getting some truly awesome yarn, although they don’t carry Classy.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:54 am
this blog is the fucking bomb! what a kick-ass cowl! and now that i’ve written a perfectly spam-tastic comment, let me say yay to fall knitting: I’ve got some grown-ass people colorwork cabled mittens to work on, once i get some time to wind the yarn . . .
October 17th, 2008 at 7:57 am
I’ve suddenly come to the (late) realization of how striking and versatile the Gathered Pullover could be, and am also thinking that the Opulent Raglan makes a good canvas for subbing in an actually opulent cable pattern (that you wouldn’t want allover)…
…and if I can ever settle on a color, I can stop drooling over and start knitting the Sylph cardigan. Spring knits can be just as exciting in the fall.

October 17th, 2008 at 8:03 am
Not to be ass-kissy or anything, but I just cast on for the February Lady Sweater. So that’ll be my fall knitting.
Happy blogiversary!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:03 am
Hey there–
I’m thinking of making something like “Longoria’s Something” [http://www.ravelry.com/projects/hiiragi/longorias-something] but find I’m stuck in indecision right now. So many beautiful things that it’s overwhelming at times, and so it’s all I can do to hammer out a beret or two at the moment.
Hey, and sorry that the Rowanspun Chunky exchange didn’t work out. I feel badly about that. In fact, I feel “grown-ass”.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:03 am
The cowl is gorgeous. I wonder if I’d be up to learning the challenges of double knitting. ? I’m most excited to knit Camden this fall. I have the yarn. I’ve swatched. I just have to cast that mutha on for my grown-ass self!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:04 am
I’m relatively new to knitting so I’m looking forward to knitting something thousands of other knitters already have made: a Clapotis.
I’m on my fourth Gloria cowl in two months for birthday presents so sadly I can’t get as excited about that. I think the Tapestry cowl would be a swift kick in the pants.
Congrats on the blogiversary!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:11 am
OK, Amazeball is my new word of the year. I’m going to try to work it into everyday conversation as frequently as possible.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:15 am
I want to knit the Swiss-cheese-scarf
October 17th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Welcome back! And boo to people who complain about language. I’m most excited to knit Eunny Jang’s Tangled Yoke Cardigan. Happy fall!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Also, I totally missed the part where I was supposed to tell you about what pattern I am excited to knit this fall/winter! FLS, obvs, but also, mittens, mittens, mittens. Seeing all the KBC swap mittens has worked me up into a mitten-frenzy! I’m working on a pair of Polska mittens right now, and also looking forward to knitting a pair of Vinterblomsters and Minty’s new bobbly-mitts whenever she’s done with the pattern!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Okay, not to sound too much like a kiss ass, I’ve just started the Feb Lady Sweater and I’m excited to get this done. Other than that, my excitement is all about baby knits for my upcoming expectation (um… a baby).
And Hey!, I’ll be heading up to Flint in Nov and hope that between my heat-sourcing belly and a completed Feb Lady Sweater, I’ll be set warmth-wise. (Am I delusional?)
October 17th, 2008 at 8:26 am
I just found the FLS and though “why didn’t I think of that” every time a made the baby version (which a love). Thank you soooo much for this terrific pattern. Now I have to decide what in my stash will show the gull stitch off in all its glory. OR, should I wait till Stitches East and have an excuse for buying NEW yarn, which of course will not be added to my stash and will be knit immediately into THE FLS!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:28 am
P.S. The photo is beautiful. It really captures the dynamic colors of fall. Down here in Maryland we are a little behind and it looks to be a more brown than red Fall. I think because we had several dry spells this summer.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:36 am
This fall/winter I’m moving into a new house, and my bedroom’s going to be in the basement. I’m most looking forward to knitting warm slippers and *finally* working up the nerve to knit some socks!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Welcome back! And grown-ass is a hilarious term, which is slowly creeping into my repertoire.
This winter I’m really excited to knit myself a cardigan: I’ve begun the CPH in a really lovely local, rustic yarn, but it’s just not working. So right now I’m shopping around for a basic, utilitarian cardigan that will work well with that yarn.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Up next for my needles is the Cobblestone Pullover by Jared Flood, for my new husband. We have been married just shy of two months and i think it’s high time he got a sweater. (no boyfriend sweater curse for us)
October 17th, 2008 at 8:43 am
Happy blogthday and welcome back!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:49 am
I think the thing I’m most excited about are my Druid Mittens.
http://www.ravelry.com/projects/rycrafty/03-green-autumn-druid-mittens
They are already started, but haven’t been knit on for a month or so. Last night I picked them up again, and can’t wait to finish!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Oh wow, I’d love to knit that cowl. (And I probably will, even if I don’t win!) Right now I have Cassidy on the needles, and that’s my most exciting project. I’ve never done much with cables before.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:51 am
Love your blog and knitting - so inspirational! I am most excited about knitting a steeked wicked this fall. I can’t wait for the yarn to arrive.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Hooray! You’ve returned!
I will be knitting 4 - count ‘em, FOUR of EZ’s Baby Surprise Jacket. There is something in the water here that has affected my daughter’s friends (hoping she stays at college until graduation, so as not to ‘catch’ what’s going around).
October 17th, 2008 at 8:54 am
welcome back, and happy 2nd blogiversary! your blog is always such fun to read, and frankly, it’s your use of things like grown-ass that make it more enjoyable
I am most excited about knitting the Ribbon Trim Cardigan from Blue sky alpacas.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Gorgeous photo! Did you take it? And I would love to knit that tapestry cowl. And about 5 pair of Christmas gift socks. And two hat & scarf Christmas gift sets. And that scribble shawl I’ve been meaning to make for myself with the mohair and pencil roving. And, and . . .
Welcome back.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Oh crap, I forgot to leave you the link for the Ribbon Trim Cardigan:
[Blue Sky Website] [Ravelry]
October 17th, 2008 at 8:58 am
yay! you’re back! i found you while you were gone and have been faithfully checking everyday in hopes that your wonderfulness would start again soon!
My knit for the fall is this amazing sweater that i found for grown-ass women- you might have heard of it- the february lady sweater! I printed it off and cast on last week! thanks for such a great cardi!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Welcome back! I found your blog about a month before you left for “vacation” and am so glad you’re back.
I’m looking forward to knitting a CPH for myself. I can’t decide on a yarn so that’s why it’s been on hold. I think after I finish the four project OTN right now, I’ll do that one. Love that tapestry cowl, I queued it as soon as I saw it.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Welcome back!! Been checking blog at least once a week as soon as the school season started!
First I need to finish my FLS and then I HOPE to be able to do a Baby Feb sweater if this little tike in ‘oven’ is a girl (soon to find out 14 more days…not like I am counting….)
That and a couple cowls for the SIL’s.
Glad to see you back!
October 17th, 2008 at 9:02 am
I’m excited about Baby Cables and Big Ones Too (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-cables-and-big-ones-too). But I totally love the Tapestry Cowl too. It’s on the list…
October 17th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Hi Pamela,
Happy 2nd Blogiversary! I’ve been reading your blog since you posted about FLS…and that is likely the most exciting project I have planned for Fall/Winter. Hopefully I will even wear it this season. Thank you for sharing this pattern. It truly is genius.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:05 am
I don’t need any more yarn or patterns, but it is good to read your blog again, you always sound like a very real person. You know what I mean? Maybe this is because you use the term grown-ass.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:08 am
I’m most looking forward to knitting my first pair of socks, Hedera from Cookie A. I’ve knit a child-size practice sock this week, and am going to bind off the toe the same as the Hedera pattern calls for, to practice.
I’m using Neighborhood Fiber Co’s Watershed Sock yarn (merino & seacell), which was purchased for me at a premier party held at my LYS on my birthday last year- 10/24/07! And to top it all off, I’ll be knitting the pattern while on a birthday trip to Nice, starting tomorrow. It’s as if all the planets have aligned for me to knit my first sock with birthday sock yarn ON my birthday! woo!
October 17th, 2008 at 9:12 am
after the hemlock-style feather and fan blanket (based on shawl from gathering of lace) for my MIL is finished i will begin my next adventure: kauni vest with original chart design and steeks. i cant’ wait! and i’m so glad you’re posting again! happy blogiversary!
October 17th, 2008 at 9:13 am
It never fails to astound me how self-righteous people can get on the conveniently anonymous internet. Don’t like the language? Don’t fucking read it! Sheesh. And I also wish to say poopity poop poop just for good measure.
I’m not knitting it, since I’m halfway through a different sweater now, plus I have Christmas knitting to start, but I’ve been having vivid and somewhat inappropriate dreams about the Baby Cables and Big Ones Too sweater by Suvi S. In something Karabella-like. Mmmmmm.
Happy blogiversary! Crap, I just had my 2nd too and I forgot. Need to do something about that…
October 17th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Congratulations! Welcome back! Happy Blogiversary!
The project that I can’t wait to CO for is the Central Park Hoodie. I’ve never properly knitted a sweater, and after much Ravelry perusing, I think it’s the one that both doesn’t look too complicated and will work the best with my wardrobe.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Happy blogthday!
I’m planning on knitting the Claudia Evilla Skirt by Ruth Sørensen. I might even be buying the yarn this weekend!
October 17th, 2008 at 9:20 am
My most exciting upcoming project is to make the adult version of the Tulips baby sweater in shades of purple Dream in Color.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:22 am
What a gorgeous photo! I am in love with maple trees.
I have so many sweaters I am excited to knit it’s always hard to choose which one (or three) to cast on next. I just got Stefanie Japel’s new book, Glam Knits, though - and wow, so many things in there I’d like to knit! I think I’ll start with the little cashmere cardigan, but in Silky Malabrigo. It isn’t on Ravelry yet, so no link, sorry.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Please are stupid. It’s your blog. You can swear if you fucking want to.
I’m excited to knit the Apres Surf Hoodie.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Welcome back! Tough question - I’m really excited about the next issue of Twist, but if I have to narrow it down to one pattern I’d say Wisteria. I’m looking forward to starting it so that I can finish it and have a nice cozy sweater in time for winter (hopefully).
Also, apparently your blog needs some more gratuitous vulgarity, so…ASSHAT!
October 17th, 2008 at 9:24 am
Hey! Love your blog and happy that you’re back - congrats on two years!!
The most exciting project that I anticipate to knit this fall is the Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet by Julia Allen. I’m thinking in a Charcoal Gray…
October 17th, 2008 at 9:25 am
I plan to knit Susan Sternlieb’s Lace Poncho in a turquoise Araucania Nature Wool, for my bike commute on chilly summer mornings here in the mountains.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Welcome back! I am planning on the Bohus Large Lace Collar Scarf. I just finished the tam and now only need to weave in ends. Of course there is also the shawl that I am making up, and the ladybug sweater for my daughter. Oh and …
Happy blogiversary.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:40 am
I’ve had an urge to try my hand at lace-real lace, not the imposter stuff I’ve been doing! (Somewhere along the line I told myself that if a pattern contained yarn-overs it was semi-lace…) So once I get past this mountain of Xmas gift knitting, I’m looking forward to a cleopatra wrap. And lots o’wine.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:41 am
I’m planning to knit the turn a square hat. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/turn-a-square
October 17th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Hooray! Glad you’re back! It is perhaps silly to say so, but I’m most excited currently about knitting a second Maude Louise in order to rewrite what currently passes for a pattern. I’ve learned so much since I knit my first sweater and tried to write down what I did for other people, and I think my second version will be better and I’ll be able to make the pattern MUCH better.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Welcome back–I’ve been following you on Flickr but it’s nice to see you back on the blog! And congratulations on your 2nd anniversary! The list of exciting knits is long! The ones in my thoughts lately are the Hex Coat, Tapestry Cowl (yes, seriously), and after I saw Elinor’s new mitts made by you, that got included on the list immediately…I love them! btw–love your ‘ps’.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Welcome back!! So really the thing I’m most excited to knit on this fall/winter are my WIPs… they are taking over my life! But after I get a few of those squared away I’m going to charge on to your February Lady Sweater! (Hmm… maybe I should try to knit the whole thing in the month of February? Is that crazy?)
October 17th, 2008 at 9:47 am
Welcome back, and happy blogthday! I’m looking forward to knitting Strawberry Hill from the latest Norah Gaughan volume, and the Baby Cables & Big Ones Too pullover, which is all kinds of awesome, and maybe a vest out of some stash yarn, and maybe playing around with a few designs (fitted entrelac cardigan, cardigan with viking cables).
Oh sorry, did you ask for just one pattern? Apparently I’m not a monogamous enough knitter for that.
October 17th, 2008 at 9:50 am
oooh! i love that cowl so much! and the colouring? gaaaa.
i can’t wait for christmas to be over so I can find time to knit myself Veronik Avery’s #11 Forestry (old penny cardigan). http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/11-forestry-old-penny-cardigan
it’s going to be my first real sweater! so excited! xo
October 17th, 2008 at 9:56 am
I’m really excited to finally get around to knitting my Fiddlehead Mittens from Hello Yarn (http://www.helloyarn.com/fiddleheadmittens.htm). I’ve had the kit for months, but just haven’t found the time to work on them.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:02 am
I’m pretty excited about the preview I saw for the winter issue of twist collective: a norah gaughan design called kingscot. I’m also daydreaming about wedgette, the KAL design she’s been posting to her fan group on ravelry…
October 17th, 2008 at 10:04 am
yeah !!!! your back! i am looking forward to knitting the Druid mittens
for a christmas present, but first i have to finish my epic project…
the Winter Wonderland coat. can’t wait to see what you have been knitting?
October 17th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Hi there! Was reeled in to your blog months ago by the February lady sweater and found you to be highly entertaining and added you to my reader… and even though I’ve only visited twice I apparently have no shame and will even enter your contest. Just bought yarn to make a clapotis, apparently I’m the only grown-ass without the clap! Now if I can just figure out how to knit the damn thing…
October 17th, 2008 at 10:18 am
I’m looking forward to knitting the Honeycomb vest from Knitty; I have the yarn and knitted a swatch to learn the pattern. First I’m committed to finishing my Must Have Cardi, and doing a bit every day on my Shadow Wing Shawl.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Wow, that cowl is so pretty. I think the thing I’m most excited to knit is the Minimalist Cardigan in Araucania Nature Wool … finally, a sweater for myself!
October 17th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Good to see you back again….I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to! I am trying to conquer socks this year….my hubby is expecting stockings in his stocking on Christmas Morning!
October 17th, 2008 at 10:23 am
yay! the top of my queue? i’ve been drooling over the tapestry cowl and scouting yarns for almost a month. next then will be either the tangled yoke cardigan (have the yarn) or the garter yoke cardigan…
(Troy, MI here…*waves*)
October 17th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Happy bloggoversary! I think I spelled that wrong. I’m excited about several patterns this fall and so it’s rather hard to come up with a single one. I think I’m probably most excited about knitting Ghost from the Kidsilk Dream book. Unfortunately the rowan website is down but here is the ravelry page for the book: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/kidsilk-dream
October 17th, 2008 at 10:28 am
As a reward to myself after my plans to seam 278 fish into the tessallating afghan in early November, I plan to knit a skirt. A knitted skirt? one year ago, I laughed at the concept, then I saw a gorgeous one and Im pattern hunting as I type!
October 17th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Whoa, you’re back!
I have two projects that I’m terribly excited to knit this winter- I’m making the Norweigian Snail Mittens, and the Faux Bois scarf- I’m all about colorwork this fall! I’ve got your February Lady sweater queued up, too, in a soft orange, but that’s actually for spring, so I don’t know if it counts.
(I’m also secretly thrilled to be knitting my first self- designed sweater- my Perfect Black Sweater, which I’ve been looking to find for years but only recently decided to dream up myself.)
I would be THRILLED to knit up that cowl, though. I’d love to do that in oranges or greens. (Not together, though.)
October 17th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Until last night I would have said the project I was most looking forward to start knitting was the twisted pullover sweater I’m going to make my nephew for Christmas. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twisted-tree-pullover
But then last night my best friend mentioned in an email that her quilting room is freezing cold (it’s not well heated and she lives in Canada) and I knew I HAD to make her some wristlets… fingerlings… arm warmers… fingerless gloves. (Whatever you want to call them.) The pattern has yet to be finalize for that, but I’m leaning towards these:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twisted-maiden-fingerless-gloves
They are definitely getting started this weekend and I’m super excited about it because I think everyone needs arm warmers!
October 17th, 2008 at 10:47 am
I have so many things that I’m excited to knit.
One being Wisteria and another being the Asymmetrical Cardigan.
Here’s the rav link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gilet-asymetrique
October 17th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Yay, happy blogthday! I’m excited to knit up some socks… any socks really.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Well, I have my eye on that Estes Vest. It is so autumnal, no?
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/estes-vest
October 17th, 2008 at 10:58 am
I was psyched to see you pop up in my bloglines today - welcome back! I wish I could tell you what I’d like to knit this winter, but since my baby is due in a couple of weeks, I suspect there will be very little knitting going on ’round these parts. But who knows, right??
I can’t believe that people leave you nasty comments. Shame on them.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:58 am
lol, bite me is one of my favorite comebacks! Sucks about the flat tires, such a pain! Love the cowl! Very cool, i so want tone and know the perfect person to make one for as a gift as well. happy 2nd blogiversary! For things i am excited to make, well fo rmy birthday hubby gave me a yarn allowance. I have yet to knit him a sweater so went on line and found the pattern for the Murphy cable sweater and proceeded to order the yarn needed from ireland, so it will be authrntic for him. Now that it is getting colder i am trying to finish other projects so as i can get started on it, i admit to being a little intimidated but it will be well worth it!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I’m desperate to knit Henne falkenberg’s Diva pattern, which I have sitting waiting for me to finish my Wicked jumper.
http://www.knit.dk/diva7.htm
I foresee the pain of fine wool and many stitches, but the result appears to be worth it.
However the thing I’m most excited about is the cardigan I plan to knit based on a jacket I own - my very first experimental pattern-making.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Happy Anniversary! How nice of you to hold a contest to celebrate.
I really, really hope I can get a February Lady Sweater done this fall/winter. I already have the yarn, so now the knitting just needs to start. I would also like to try out some color knitting, so the cowl would be the perfect project to try out. Plus, who wouldn’t LOVE to have some more Koigu in their lives
October 17th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Welcome back
Most looking forward to working on my February Lady Sweater, but Christmas knits are already starting to sneak into my docket of knitting.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:09 am
soooo many to choose from but today i am leaning towards the 109-3 jacket from Drops and/or the Asymmetrical Cardigan by Norah Gaughan
Ravelry is wreaking havoc on my knit planning……
October 17th, 2008 at 11:11 am
I’ve got this gorgeous burgundy colored Cashmere blend yarn that I want to use for this pattern from an old VK.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/25-cabled-raglan-pullover
I just finished my Juliette and am rather pleased with the speed of the chunkier (but not too bulky) knits!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Happy Blogthday!Well, I am a somewhat new knitter. So my projects probably won’t sound as exciting to the seasoned pro knitters. But, I am knitting a vintage pattern eyelet vest for my sister-in-law for Christmas, and then I will tackle the February Lady Sweater…for me! I would so love to win. I have never bought yarn from anywhere other than Joann’s or Michael’s before. A crime. I know. I am so missing out. And that adorable cowl speaks for itself. Wow.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:16 am
First off, WELCOME BACK!
I’ve truely missed your photos & blog posts.
Second that picture is absolutely stunning! Nice capture & Excellent DOF
Third, what am I most excited to knit? I really want to do the tapestry cowl (I even have the yarn in my stash) but I also want to finally knit the meida’s socks so that they will fit. Two attempts & two failures
Hopefully the 3rd time is a charm!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Happy blogiversary!
Hmmm - I have a lot I want to knit this fall & winter, sweater bug has really bitten me hard! I think the one I am looking forward to the most is Cosima from Berroco booklet #281. I’ve ordered a beautiful wine colored yarn from Elann, and have already swatched. I am just forcing myself to finish two other projects first.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:33 am
I’m really exited about Kate Gilbert’s Wisteria, although this far I’m only in the stage of planning to knit it (x-mas knitting coming up…). Happy blogiversary!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Happy Grown-Ass 2nd Blog-o-versary!
Since my brother’s wife just had another baby, I’m most excited to knit the EZ Baby Sweater.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:35 am
I’m going to knit my first sweater using a local organic yarn - Beaverslide Dry Goods in Dupuyer, Montana!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Your update is such a nice surprise! Love that lead photo.
I’m still chugging on my Feb Lady Sweater and I’m shooting to have it finished by Christmas. I love the pattern so much, I bought a copy of the EZ book to knit a Baby version for a pregnant friend, which I’m knitting on now. Fortunately, my experience with your pattern has helped me with the Baby pattern a whole bunch!
October 17th, 2008 at 11:37 am
I know I shouldn’t be surprised that some people gave you crap about swearing, I really shouldn’t, but I am. Bleh, people drive me crazy. Anywho, congrats on the anniversary! That’s a pretty cool milestone.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I’m stoked about Gnarled Oakwoods by Anne Hanson. I looooove it. (Rav link)
October 17th, 2008 at 11:48 am
I really really want to knit the Chevalier Lapaset mittens. SO PRETTY!http://madebymyself.blogspot.com/2007/10/chevalier-lapaset.html
October 17th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Wow, you’ve been busy, Pam! I missed the state fair this year. I’m really excited to knit Loppem this fall/winter — I just need to find the perfect yarn.
BTW, fuck the complainers. It’s your space!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Welcome back - I missed reading about your adventures - knitting and otherwise. What I am looking froward to knitting is the February Lady Sweater
I seem to be challenged with top-down knitting of sweaters and I really want to make this one!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Welcome back! I love the tapestry cowl–very pretty. I need to try out some cowls. But the thing I’m most looking forward to knitting is a sweater for the DH (he’s picked the Cambridge Jacket by Ann Budd). My first zipper!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
What am I looking forward to knitting? Well now it’s this cowl, thanks very much!!! I’ve managed to avoid cowls up ’til now, but your photos are soooo beautiful and I very much want to learn double knitting like this!
October 17th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
ooh, what a great giveaway. if i win i will have to make this wait (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sun-ray-shawl), because i may not be able to resist the power of the cowl.
um, and to the people with language issues….who cares if you use the term grown ass or otherwise. i just finished my bandwagon (named so by a raveler, i adopted it because i love the name)…and it rocks this grown ass woman’s body. i am just waiting on buttons and cooler weather here in california. thanks for the pattern. it was so much fun to knit.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I’m knitting the Clematis Vine sock and having great fun so far. Maybe, we’ll see after I finish the second sock, but I’m thinking it would be fun to knit Clematis Vine slippers.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Welcome back! That picture is gorgeous!
I’m pumped to knit Iceland from Rowan 42 if I can just find the right colour yarn. Hope you have a more relaxing fall… or whats left of it
October 17th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
hahahah, speaking of grown-ass, my fall project is my february lady sweater! i was totally going to hold off knitting it and knit something else i had in the pipeline but i gave in when most of us spiders started a KAL. i’m really enjoying it so far!
other patterns? i can’t even think farther than this sweater but i’m dying to cast-on for some socks!
October 17th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
I am fairly new to knitting (I am a quilter normally) so every project I pick up is exciting to me. The one I have currently got my panties all in a bundle about is the Turn A Square Hat (from Brooklyn Tweed) as I bought a very large skein of yarn from the Wisconsin State Fair (from the alpaca growers association or something like that) and it is so unbelieveably soft and beautiful. I wish I was skilled enough to do a sweater or something cooler but a hat is where I am at (sorry that rhymed). Anyhoo, glad to see you are back in the blogging world as I think your stuff is out of this world!
October 17th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Welcome back! I’ve missed your blog. And happy belated blog birthday! That is one excellent looking cowl. I made one for myself recently and I LOVE it. I never thought I’d jump a bandwagon and like it so much. If only I could knit more of them.
Well, the only winter knitting projects I have planned are the socks I have to complete for family members with cold feet and finishing the sweater I started in August. One sleeve and a yoke to go. If I ever finish all those socks though, I definitely want to knit some mittens: aemmeleia’s Icewine or Eunny Jang’s Anemoi Mittens or even maybe Bird in Hand. (Yes, I’m late to jump onto these bandwagons. Oh well. This year I’ll be waging a war on cold hands.)
October 17th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Hoopy-hoo! So happy to have you back. I, for one, am super-excited about Kate’s Selbu Modern beret. I may have just finished one…
October 17th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
I’m excited about knitting a shell from Sublime in this yummy Debbie Bliss Prima (it’s a wool/bamboo blend, and it is sweeeet.)
and also, how dare you use the term “grown-ass”? my sensibilities are so. offended.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
I, too have been eyeing the February Lady sweater! (No kidding.) But also the Tartan Jacket from Interweave Knits has been calling out to me. If I don’t start soon, I’ll be finishing just as the weather warms up, ’cause I’m not that fast! Maybe I should just do something small first to get that feeling of accomplishment…like a tapestry cowl.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
welcome back! i’m currently hauling ass through a saddle-shouldered aran cardigan a’la EZ. tweed + cables = fall goodness.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
I’m glad you’re back! I only discovered your blog after you took your hiatus, and I was sad because when I went through your archives you were clearly the kind of knitblogger I love to read. So, YAY!
I am excited about knitting Jared’s Koolhaas hat for my brother, because I have not made a well fitted hat before, and I haven’t used quite so many cables. And my brother lives in Illinois and I in Texas so getting the fit right with all that mileage between us WILL BE AWESOME. Eek.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
I just finished my first “big knitting” for myself: Slinky Ribs from Custom Knits. It was exiting, cause I´didn´t know would it fit just right.. and it did
I learned how to knit just 2 years ago, so there has been lots of exiting moments, new pattern is always a challenge for me. It can be socks or mittens or anything new! My motto is also to try something new, I don´t want to knit anything even twice, there are millions (?) of different patterns out there.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Well, having two children under the age of two I have to be realistic about what I can achieve! So, the pattern I’m most looking forward to knitting this autumn is the Crofter’s cowl (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crofters-cowl). Welcome back. I really enjoy your blog.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
I think either the Military Cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/military-cardigan) or Demi (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/demi).
October 17th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Welcome back! We have all missed you. I am excited to start the Sideways Cardigan from Vogue Summer 2008. But then of course there are all of those Norah Gaughan Volume 3 patterns I am lusting after as well.
October 17th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Hey Honey Bun,
I already have the pattern (*so* amazeball), so no need to enter me! I just ordered the yarn for the ‘Modern Quilt Wrap’ and I think it’s going to be fucking fabulous… And I can’t believe that ‘grown-ass’ is now a problem. Whatevs. Have a great contest:)
October 17th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
hmm, what am i excited to knit? i’ve been dying to knit demi from rowan vintage knits. let’s see if i ever get started…
who the hell has been scolding you for using “naughty” language? first of all, i see no naughty language here, and secondly, what’s wrong with using naughty language?! it’s your blog and you’re free to use any word you please
October 17th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
I am most looking forward to making a sackperson (from a wonderful game called LittleBigPlanet). I have attempted it once already but am not happy with the results, so that means I’m going to sit down and actually plan it out this time! The best part is when it’s done I will name him Stephen, in honor of Stephen Fry (who happens to have the position of narrator in afore mentioned game).
Welcome back.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
YOU’RE BACK!
I’m excited to have started a cardigan from Jane Ellison’s Queensland Collection Book 9. I don’t have the pattern name in front of me (they’re all named after men. Nigel? Hector? Alphonse? Clark? I dunno. The one with the zipper.) It is a super simple pattern — but for the first time I think I’ll be able to knit a sweater my spouse will truly love. Using Green Mountain Spinnery’s Sylvan Spirit.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
So I am excited to knit me some jackets to wear this winter. I have a few lined up to knit in queue, but I started Flair by Wendy this week in Malabrigo. I really want to finish this so that I have a cozy stylish coat to wear around town.
Sorry people think you need scolding about your wording. My mother tries that tact on me about my blog and I tend to ignore her.
Can’t wait to see what you have been knitting. I too must share my blog fodder that is taking over my couch waiting to be blogged about.
October 17th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
holy cow! well after seeing the tapestry cowl, I’m excited about that! I LOVE it!
p.s. that was my FLS that you took a pic of at the state fair.
I got fifth place!
October 17th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Apparently I’m on both a small projects kick and completely indecisive. Currently holding my attention amongst my (ahem 14 page) queue is:
a Debbie Bliss shrug
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shrug-3
another funky EZ adaptation:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/february-beret
and a weird little short sleeved cardigan that is popping up everywhere and I can’t escape in knitting world or the mall:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/asymmetrical-cabled-cardi
Hmm… I better go. I have to pretend to finish my WIPs rather than oogle my new prospects.
PS happy blogiversary (blogthday?)
October 17th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Congrats and welcome back! Whenever you post I often wonder “Is she in Minneapolis (across the river from me), or in Flint…?”
Did you walk through the creative arts building at the fair? I entered a few pair of socks and was lucky enough to win a few ribbons.
This fall there are two kick-ass patterns that I was thrilled to find on ravelry. I’m 1/2 way through both. The first is Entangled Stitches - a twisted stitch glove pattern by Julia Mueller, a resident of Bavaria. These beauties are for me.
The second is a seriously demented (in a good way) mask/balaclava pattern called “bokaclava” by Anne-Marie Dunbar from the UK. My supervisor is a mega Dr. Who fan, and quite possibly has been referred to as a demon once or twice before. (Pattern is inspired by “bok” from a classic Dr. Who episode called “Daemons”.) I’m just past the eyebrow shaping on this one.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I have The February Lady Sweater on my list and Notre Dame De Grace. I also have a handspun sweater TBD in the works.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I was so excited to a new entry from you pop up on my feed today! Yay! I just moved to Seattle and an apartment with no insulation, so I’m pretty excited to make An American in China socks (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring08/PATTchina.html) to pad around the house in. I got my very first skein of Socks That Rock yarn, and can’t wait to see how it works up!
October 17th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Hello! I am going to attempt to knit my hubby a sweater for Christmas. I’ve never knit a sweater before, so i’m a little nervous! The pattern i’m going to use is a drops design. http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=85&d_id=7&lang=us
And i’m going to use Lambs Pride worsted wool i think. Any suggestions?! lol, i could use all the help i can get! Ohh, and i would love love love to win some new yarn! That pattern looks so sweet. I live in New Brunswick Canada and it’s really starting to get cold..:)
Bye for now,
Tanja
October 17th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I’m most excited about knitting the Little Birds cardigan by Ysolda Teague, which was in the debut edition of Twist Collective. Of course, living in the southern hemisphere this will be a Summer knit for me! But it’s a project of firsts - steeks and stranding, and will hopefully be ready for next winter.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Glad you’re back!
The holiday knitting project I’m most excited is Dr. G’s Memory Vest of Kirsten Kapur of Through the Loops. But the project I have planned to reward myself for all my gift knitting (which will be cast on December 25 by the tree) is the Hemlock Ring Blanket. And what a reward it will be!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Hello - I’m knitting that fabulous February Lady Sweater and loving it.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
haha
“grown-ass” is offensive? Whoever that was should come round here and see if that’s still offensive after.
I can’t wait to cast on the handspun feather and fan shawl. <3!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
After much sweater practicing, I’m very excited to join the thousands and knit the February Lady Sweater. It is so dang fabulous!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
happy blogthday!
i’m going to knit demi. after seeing all the gorgeous ones on ravelry, i finally got the push i needed!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
happy two years!
it’s not a new pattern, but I’m just starting to plan and swatch for the Notre Dame de Grace sweater and I am really excited about knitting myself something with red yarn!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Nice to see you back Pam! Okay, here she be…I’m planning to knit myself the Shalom Cardigan, but modified like Hapichicks here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/hapichick/shalom-cardigan-2
I just have the finish the Christmas knitting first….
October 17th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
I think the most exciting thing I have planned is the forestry cardigan from interweave knits. Unfortunately the christmas knitting comes first.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
I am most excited to knit the February baby sweater by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I’ve never knit a sweater and with a future niece on the way I am motivated to try!
October 17th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I’m looking forward to knitting Interlocking Leaves (from Knitty).
October 18th, 2008 at 1:09 am
I recently bought a copy of Wicked finally and I plan to cast it on for NaKniSweMo. Yeah for fall!
October 18th, 2008 at 6:17 am
I feel a little groupie-ish but. . . . I wanna make YOUR February Lady Sweater!!! I even forced myself to finish a 4 year lace shawl project to clear the decks.
I’m not linking to that because 1. I’m not sure how to link to someone else’s page through her own page (??!) and 2. it seems gratuitous (which apparently “people” have trouble with . . .and Lord knows I don’t want to offend anyone).
Welcome back!
October 18th, 2008 at 6:26 am
Gurl I haven’t seen helicopters in 4ever!!! That is SO a mid-west thing!! ;op
Shoot you got me wanting to knit the reversible cowl now that I know it has awesome instructional linkage! I was so intimidated when I 1st saw it.
Welcome back and Happy Blog B-day!
October 18th, 2008 at 6:54 am
Welcome back! We’ve missed you! My next knitting adventure will probably be the Sausilito cardigan by Dolce Knits–so cute with the picot edge and bow knit stitch pattern. However, that reversible cowl looks like a great Christmas gift.
October 18th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Oh, how to choose which pattern in my queue? After I finish the Christmas knitting, I think my first project will be Julia Meuller’s Entangled gloves. Love the traveling stitches. I’ve discovered, sick as it is, that I really enjoy knitting gloves.
October 18th, 2008 at 8:32 am
It’s good to have you back in blogland. Happy Blogday.
This winter I’m going to knit a Hand-to-Hand Aran (by the amazing Elizabeth Zimmerman) for my fiancee out of Beaverslide Dry Goods worsted in Spruce Heather. New take on sweater construction as well as pretty colors equals happy knitter.
October 18th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Hey! I’m so glad you’re back. Happy Blog birthday.
So the pattern I’m totally looking for knitting is The Shalom Cardigan from Meghane McFarlane.
October 18th, 2008 at 9:01 am
I fell in love with this Kauni version of Arrowheads: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Dutchlass/arrowheads
Alas, it requires purchasing yarn…
October 18th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Happy Blogiversary! I am almost finished with Linden from Twist Collective, which is pretty exciting! Next up are Porom by brooklyntweed and the Dimorphous Mittens by mimknits.
October 18th, 2008 at 9:59 am
WELCOME BACK from the depths! Good to read ya! (Swear away, girl, makes me feel right at home….) Patterns for me? Do I get to really DO that? I’m torn between Twist and that oh, so cool, February Lady. But, I also really want to finish my Forest Canopy shawl–I’m still on the last repeat of the body, and then only the edge to go….
October 18th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I planned to make this amazing cowl, but the next most exciting project for me would be the Venezia Pullover. I bought the yarn a while ago and have been afraid to start due to impending steeks. Colorwork in the round isn’t scary, though, and I think it’s time I put this sucker on the needles:)
October 18th, 2008 at 11:48 am
I’m excited to knit mittens. Thrums, stranded, patterned- whatever!
October 18th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
I can’t wait to start Venezia Pullover using Evilla yarn. It would be something like this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/venezia-pullover/people?status=&group=&photoless=0&search=kauni
only instead of the rainbow colour I’ll us teal-brown and solid brown (maybe) for the hem.
I hope I can start it in November, I’m still working on cobblestone for my husband and I’ve promised myself to finish my tangled yoke before starting other sweater.
October 18th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Most, if not all, of my knitting for the next 2 months is gift knitting. Frantic, frantic gift knitting. (:
Out of that, the thing I’m most looking forward to is the Laminaria I plan to make w/Hanmaiden SeaSilk.
October 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I just finished Hey, Teach! Next up for me is your February Lady Sweater! Can’t wait to cast on.
October 18th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
I’m excited to knit the Baby Surprise Jacket for my first kid who’ll enter this crazy world in March.
October 18th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
I fell in love with Liquid Silver when I saw it the other day. But I also really want to make the Garter Stitch Blanket by EZ with some of my own handspun.
October 18th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
You’re back! And bearing gifts no less!
My plan for this fall is to knit Eastlake - I love Norah Gaughan and I’ve lusted after it for so long, it’s time to try it out. Tapestry’s in the queue, too, of course.
October 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Good to see you back in the blog world!
I’m planning on knitting Wisteria from Twist Collective - in yummy merino.
Happy knitting!
October 18th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I have been waiting a very very long time for you to return. I look forward to checking for new blogs from you!
My next project is going to be the something red sweater from Knit and Tonic.
Red always bring the life out in anything.
Yeah your back!!
October 18th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Nice to see you back. I’m planning on knitting the Kingscot from the new Twist Collective when it comes out.
October 18th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Welcome back! I really, really want to knit the Terra bear for my daughter for Christmas. This is the Ravelry link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/terra-bear
October 18th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I’m so excited to knit a pair of arm warmers similar to a pair from Free People. I will be using Noro Transitions in Col No. 4. Woo Hoo!
Glad to see you back and cheers to another wonderful blog year.
Sonya
http://search.freepeople.com/?q=arm+warmers&x=0&y=0
October 18th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
The FLS for me too. I love it!
October 18th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Yay! Welcome back!
The most exciting pattern I’ve got lined up is Wandering Aran Fields by Norah Gaughan, which is found in Wrap Style. It’ll be the first piece of clothing (a wrap counts, right?) I make for myself, and perfect for the coming weather
October 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Welcome back!
I’m most excited to work on the Estes Vest from the fall IK. I just started it a few days ago.
October 18th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
So nice to see a new post here! Welcome back!
I can’t believe people had the nerve to tell you not to swear, and whathaveyou, on your own blog. Get a fucking life, people!
I don’t have a must knit queued up at the moment. I just finished my first pair of knee socks, and am totally besotted. But, if I find the right colours I would really like to knit Kirsten Kapur’s Joni.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/joni
October 18th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Welcome back to blogging, lady! The project I’m looking forward to this fall/winter, once I’m finished gift knitting, is a pair of thrummed mittens for myself. It’s funny that I’ve waited until I moved to one of the most temperate regions on this continent when I really could’ve used them during four winters in Saskatchewan. Whoops!
October 18th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Happy birthday to your blog! And welcome back!
I’m very excited to knit Hello Yarn’s squirrel-and-oak mittens for my daughter this fall!
October 18th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Hey girl, Welcome back!
My next knitting project will be a custom designed head cover for an Orlimar 420cc driver. I’ll be getting started as soon as I find the time to design the pattern. I’m thinking about felting the upper portions for increased protection. What’s your opinion on that?
October 18th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
I’m so pleased that you’re back! I was enjoying archived posts in the meantime. I’m excited to knit some child-sized legwarmers in yummy sock yarn for my little cousins.
October 18th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Yay! I didn’t have to wait long for you to return because I just found you last week! This is good because I am impatient. I’m very excited to knit the Frivol hat and the Bainbridge scarf (can I list two?). Also, amazeball is my new favorite word, and you can curse all you want in my opinion.
October 18th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
cripe. who has the time to email you about your use of cursing? also, who is offended by cursing? no one you should care about!
October 18th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Happy blogiversary! I am excited to knit a bunch of the projects from Wendy Bernard’s new “Custom Knits,” particularly Ingenue.
October 19th, 2008 at 6:08 am
So glad you are back. I’m making Manon and having loads of fun with the construction, but the knit I’m most excited about is a sweater for the baby my best friend is about to adopt!
October 19th, 2008 at 7:13 am
Kim Hargreaves ‘Rosa’ is at the top of my list!
October 19th, 2008 at 7:25 am
I recently finished several things for a swap partner and my 1st (last) Chevron scarf. While it took a long time to complete, I love it and decided I’d make myself one more thing before starting on hubby’s sweater. I’m super excited to make the Clapotis for myself. Not sure why since everyone has already made one, but I fell in love with a friend’s and had to have one of my own.
October 19th, 2008 at 7:26 am
Huzzah! I’m happy that you’ve returned to blogland. I’m pretty psyched to knit myself a yoked cardi from Istex. I need to keep the chill off, I’m delicate after all.
As for the swearing, if so offensove, why do they keep reading. Effing jerks.
http://www.istex.is/default.asp?sid_id=27902&tre_rod=001|003|008|001|&tId=1
October 19th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Glad to see you back around blog-town.
I’m super excited about the grown-ass, plain lady type sweater I finally started this weekend.
October 19th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Welcome back to the blog world we missed you. Been dreaming about starting my February Lady sweater sometime before February. Thanks again for adapting that lovely sweater for us all!
October 19th, 2008 at 9:06 am
I’m looking forward to knitting (and severely altering) a cabled vest for my dad from Jo Sharp 3. Glad to see you’re back!
October 19th, 2008 at 9:59 am
i’m making lots and lots of the bounce hats from yarn ball boogie
http://www.yarnballboogie.com/?p=147
October 19th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Welcome back to blogland! Me? I’m just trying to get all my wips done ASP so I can start on the Bellini vest(http://www.theknittinggarden.com/ro-mag44.htm) from Rowan 44. Fairisling with Felted Tweed is what I need this winter!
October 19th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Welcome back! I’ve bought the yarn. I’ve cast on. Elizabeth Zimmerman’s EPS Yoke Cardigan.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fair-isle-yoke-sweater
October 19th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
welcome back! not to be obsequious or anything, but the february lady sweater is at the top of my queue.
October 19th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Happy Blogiversary! I’m a little overwhelmed with finishing Venezia and the yarn I just bought that I don’t know what my next big project will be!
October 19th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
welcome back! what don’t i want to knit right now?! aside from all the christmas knitting i’ve yet to do (i have time — it’s only…the end of october. i better hurry up!), i’m really feeling the cowl love. first, i’m thinking of making the pashmina cowl from “last minute knitted gifts” in a lovely beige alpaca yarn. after that will probably be the la la love you cowl. THEN, it’s shawl time (i’m leaning toward laminaria). after that? february lady sweater in olive wool with vintage white flower buttons. overambitious? maybe just a bit.
October 19th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
My most exciting knit that I will be working on this fall is…. the Mommy Snug form summer IK 2006
October 19th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Welcome back! My next knitting project that I am so excited about is the cobblestone sweater.
October 19th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
I intend to make myself a sweater! Probably loosely EPS, but my own colourwork details. That is all depending on my completion of Ironwork socks and a Hemlock ring blanket…
October 19th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
re: “amazeball” + the “bite me”
I heart you Pam! ehehehe!
October 19th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
yay!! your back! i can’t wait to see your FOs….I waiting for kit to come in for Judy’s Colors….i love xmas stockings.
October 19th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
yea!!! glad you are back, missed you and especially your “bite me” attitude. too funny.
anyway, i want to do the feather and fan wrap, then the fls for myself. of course, there are the christmas gifts that need to get done first, nothing fancy,tho/
October 19th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Happy Blogiversary! I love your photo. It’s so beautiful. I went to Rhinebeck yesterday and saw a couple Wisteria (by Kate Gilbert). I totally fell in love with it and I am going to knit it this fall/winter. Can’t wait to cast on!
October 19th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Did people really send you messages about your language? Good grief.
You know, your contest question has kind of brought me up short. Though I have way too many things planned for the next few months, I’ve realized I’m not, like EXCITED!!!! about any of them. Honestly, I’ve already knit the Fall/Winter thing I was most excited about it - my FLS is going to rock so hard. Once I get the buttons sewn on.
I have several other things to knit first, but I guess something I’m really looking forward to is knitting a couple of Wallabies for my boys with Spidey symbols on the pockets.
October 19th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
You were missed! Welcome back. As unoriginal as it is, I’m most excited to knit myself a February Lady sweater. It will be the first thing I knit for myself. I always give everything else away.
October 19th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
Welcome back! I’m glad you’ve had a good, if eventful, summer. And happy fall! If I were still in the North, I would definitely be looking forward to knitting a sweater, probably Wisteria, for myself, but as it is Spring here, rapidly running into Summer, I’m going to be knitting plenty of light lacey things. I want to get onto the Heirloom Knitting 1ply Spring Shawl, my big challenge for the year.
As soon as I get round to winding the 3000yds of cobweb weight I need…
October 19th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Welcome back and happy blogethday! I am excited to get started on the Knitpicks sampler purse - I have Eunny Jang’s Venezia Sweater on my life’s ambition list - I hink this is a good first step.
October 19th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I love the phrase “bite me” … I may have to reintroduce that into my vocab. I really want to make a vest with bulky yarn, I’m between the Estes from the fall Interweave and Petersburg from last year’s winter Rowan.
October 19th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Narrowing it to just one thing I’m looking forward to knitting is hard, but since I just cast on for the Basic Black cardi yesterday,(Rav link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-black) I’ll go with that. I’m making it with some Hacho I’ve had in my stash that I’ve been dying to use, and it is looking so good so far!
So glad to see you back and blogging again!
October 19th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I can’t wait to knit myself Liesl. Must finish Christmas knitting first. Happy blogaversary!
October 19th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Hi, and welcome back! I’m excited to knit Elinor’s Grow Like a Weed jacket (in greeeeeen, I think!) and super excited that the yarn that was a fail for its intended purpose (composed mitts) might just make a rockin’ chevron love hat.
October 20th, 2008 at 4:20 am
I think some Druid mittens will be my next. Happy Blogiversary!
October 20th, 2008 at 6:11 am
I’m planning on completing the February baby sweater and the February lady sweater! It will be great to complete a gift and to have a sweater to wear myself…:) Welcome back!
October 20th, 2008 at 7:02 am
I’d love to knit the new Kathy Zimmerman cabled raglan in the Interweave Holiday issue. Here’s to many more years on your blog!
October 20th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Welcome back! I am actually excited to knit the tapestry cowl!! It’s a really gorgeous pattern and I’ve been wanting to try my hand at double knitting too. So if I win, BONUS!
October 20th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Yea! I missed your blog so much! I’m going to knit the Minimalist Cardigan, Ysolda’s Grown-Up Booties, and I’m in the middle of a Clapotis I’m pretty excited about.
October 20th, 2008 at 8:59 am
As soon as I’m done with my deadline knitting I just received the yarn (DIC Classy) for YOUR Feb Lady Sweater, and I’m psyched to cast on!!! I’m shocked I haven’t cast on yet, but I really am trying to be good, and finish my other project first!
October 20th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Yay Pam! Swear to god this isn’t shameless pandering like all those other comments :=)…now that the weather’s broke I’m very excited about casting on my February Lady Sweater. In fact, I think that 2009 will be the Year of the Sweater for me, in general.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:02 am
For winter, I’m excited to break the pi blanket humdrum with sweaters. Real Elizabeth Zimmermann fairisle yoke sweaters where I won’t have to make a single yarn over. Ever.
And I’m glad you’re back. Keep writing and being sassy.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I have a UFO sweater to finish first and a few Christmas presents, but immediately after that it is either the Hey Teach or February Lady Sweater. With my pace of knitting I should finish one by next spring.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:29 am
re your ps: WORD.
I just finished the February Lady Sweater (\o/ GREAT pattern) and am contemplating starting Hey Teach after the spate of holiday gift knitting is over. Oy.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:38 am
On my waiting list are : a modern lopi found in the 25 pattern book, a february Lady Sweater, and two cardigans in the Sarah Dallas Scottich Island Knits (which is in the mail).
Happy Bloganniversary Pam!
October 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am
I’m excited to get to the February Lady sweater for myself, but first need to finish several Christmas gifts for others…thrumbed mitts, a beaut of a scarf from New Scarves, and a pair of socks for my dad.
Welcome back, and bring on the potty mouth!
October 20th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I plan on knitting some striped Noro socks! I can’t wait. Also, I’ll tackle a baby surprise jacket for a future friend.
October 20th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Welcome back! I was just lamenting to a co-worker all the knitting I want to do but work gets in the way. Then we both remembered we work to keep us in yarn! I am so planning on knitting the Central Park Hoodie.
Love your blog! Keep being your bad ass self!
October 20th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Hey and welcome back:-) I´m knitting “livsstykke” from Geilsk.dk. It´s my first piece for myself so i´m quite exited.
Love your blog so it´s good you´re back.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I’m just about to cast on for Wisteria from Twist. I need that sweater now!
October 20th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
I was going to make a snarky comment about my disappointment in you failure to use any sort of language that could be deemed offensive, but then you used the phrase “bite me.” Um yeah, is that the best you can do? Heh. No need to enter me in your contest, I have the cowl pattern and I need more yarn like a need 50 more pounds of girth added to my person, but I will say that 75% of the Norah Gaughan patterns for fall are all on my list of things to knit right now. Which clearly I will not knit given all my extra girth. Happy blogthday. Welcome back. Etcetera.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I can’t wait to knit the Fiddlehead mittens. I just got new yarn for them from Rhinebeck this past weekend!
I love the pic you have on this post today too! PERFECT for Fall!
October 20th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I’m most excited to make 2 red Besotted scarves, http://www.helooyarn.com/besottedscarf.htm for my 2 very best grown ass women friends! So happy to see you’re back!
October 20th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I can’t wait to start the the Elizabeth Bennett sweater from Fitted Knits. It is so beautiful!
October 20th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
No need to enter me. Just wanted to wish you a happy blogiversary and am glad you’re back - use of “grown-ass” and all!
October 20th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Happy belated blogversary! I’m determined to start my first sweater this winter. I’m not sure which pattern though. i want it to be simple enough that I don’t get frustrated but nice enough that I won’t get bored or not wear it. Hmmm…
October 20th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
I am dying to knit up some warm and cozy socks for myself, I made a pair for everyone else in my family last year, but none for me! Still haven’t decided on a pattern, but I need to get to the yarn store to find some yarn before I decide on the pattern
Happy Blogaversary!
October 20th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Yay! Glad you’re back, I love your blog!
My most exciting knit for fall are the Fiddlehead Mittens. They are so beautiful and fun to knit as well!
October 20th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
awwwies! how i missed you!
i’m really jazzed about this fair isle vest in the rowan knitting for him book. i srsly have had dreams about it.
October 20th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Happy blogiversary, Pam!
I’m with Elli - totally psyched to knit Selbu Modern. So pretty! But keep me out of your contests and yarn giveaways, because ugh, the stash, it is large.
October 20th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I cannot wait to knit Central Park Hoodie. I have gotten the yarn and will be casting on soon. Happy Blogiversary and glad you are back and for the Feb. Lady pattern…can’t wait to knit that one either.
October 20th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
I am excited to begin knitting for the first time this month…I don’t have a specific project yet, we’ll see what my knitting teacher suggests for me.
October 20th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Hi-lar-i-ous! People actually scold you for your language? Dude, it’s a personal blog, not a tea party!
Anywho. I’m looking forward to working on my 3 month old’s pumpkin sweater and hat for Halloween. It’s cold in the Twin Cities at Halloween, and we need to bundle him up while big brother trick-or-treats!
October 20th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
I’ve got a bunch of tantalizing sweaters on my list, but the most fall-like is the bulky shrug from Fitted Knits. I’ll be starting it as soon as my February lady is off the needles!
October 20th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
The one thing I am most excited to knit is the Green Gable Hoodie from the fall issue of vogue. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/28-vihervaara–huppari—greengable–hoodie here’s a link to the ravelry page for it. Maybe you will like it too
Cheers, -Leah

Hi,
As it is cold as hell here in Iceland right now I think my next project is this: http://istex.is/images/Mynd_0139156.jpg made from Lopi and after that: hopefully all kind of nice stuff.

I’m so glad you’re back! I’m looking forwar to knitting the Tapestry Cowl! I hope I win the pattern! Thanks!
October 21st, 2008 at 7:16 am
Actually, I am going to knit the February sweater for my daughter. I am so excited about it. I am going to do it in blue, though. So glad you are back!
October 21st, 2008 at 7:38 am
So nice to meet you recently! And it’s nice to see you back here, too.
October 21st, 2008 at 10:28 am
I bought the yarn already for Norah’s Serpentine Coat — soon as Christmas knitting is done, I’m going for it!http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/serpentine-coat
October 21st, 2008 at 10:32 am
I’ve finally got the nerve up to knit Eunny Jang’s anemoi mittens… I’m super psyched about it.
As for those nay-sayers on the language front— I say, if you don’t like it… don’t read it. It’s not like you’re writting children’s books with profanity.
Glad you’re back!
October 21st, 2008 at 11:10 am
I’m most excited to knit is Oblique by Veronik Avery from the 2007 fall Knitty, I’ve had my eye on it for a while and I think it would be perfect for winter layering.
October 21st, 2008 at 11:16 am
Yank is the pattern I most want to make. I love the style and textured stitch.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/yank
Love the fall photo.
October 21st, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Of course, my favorite is the February Lady Sweater. It looks fabulous on all sizes of women. 73 yr old mom is getting one for Christmas. Thank you for sharing.
October 21st, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Yippee! You’re back! And my vote is to curse all ya want girl. No need to keep it cute for me.
I’m excited to make the Shalom Cardigan with some gorgeous coppery yarn that I got on major discount at WEBS. Mmmm… cardigans…

[…] Happy Fall! and a CONTEST! […]
October 21st, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Discovered your blog recently - love it. I’m currently working on February Lady sweater and enjoying it. Looking forward to knitting the tilted duster this winter (that everyone seems to have made) - it’s been on my list for a while.
October 21st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Happy blogiversary! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/slouchy-cardigan
Slouchy Cardigan is the pattern I want to knit. I love the drape and the coziness of this cardigan.
October 21st, 2008 at 2:46 pm
My son wants a hat that doesn´t itch, and he´s crazy about Star wars. So I´m planning to make him a cotton hat in stockinette with a Darth Vader pattern in purl stitches. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/show/fairisle-patterns-from-the-movie-star-wars
October 21st, 2008 at 3:26 pm
I have been waiting to make Coraline by Ysolda for so long. As soon as I get home from an out-of-town trip, I’m casting on!
October 21st, 2008 at 3:35 pm
I know I’m soooo behind on this, but the chevron scarf is the thing I’m most excited about. I just managed to get the book with the pattern (delay happens for us that live in countries where knitting is most definitely not popular). So now I just have to pick out the right yarn.
October 21st, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Guess you won`t be knitting much the next days, with all these comments…
I am totally in love with these mittens I discovered yesterday:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/deep-in-the-forest-mittens.
I also hope to make Baby cables and big ones too this winter:

i am in love with wisteria… like hell i am in love with wisteria.
October 21st, 2008 at 8:36 pm
If only I could knit for a living - there would be time for many more adventures than I can realistically fit into the calendar. I had only just discovered your terrific F.L.S. weeks before your blog went on hiatus, so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect wool. Sadly, a December Husband Sweater may bump the F.L.S. off the list…so far, he favours “Retrofit” in the current Knitty. I’ve taken all spousal sweater knitting advice VERY SERIOUSLY! Glad to see you back in form!
October 21st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
A two sweater I’m really looking forward to knitting is Snow White and Simple Knitted Bodice.

Congrats on your blogiversary.

I can’t wait to find some yarn for the Shalom Cardigan, available at Involving the Senses: http://involvingthesenses.blogspot.com/2008/03/shalom-cardigan.html
On an unrelated note, I’m so happy to see you post again!
October 22nd, 2008 at 5:02 am
Welcome back!
Love the cowl.. gorgeous colours..
I think that pattern getting my vote this winter (and soon to be on the needles) is Tangled Yoke from Eunny Jang. I have one already that I made earlier this year, but this time I want to make the tunic version and not the cardigan. Just a few other knits to get out of the way and then I’m starting this!
October 22nd, 2008 at 7:22 am
Okay, to be honest, next on my list after Christmas present knitting is finished is the Feb lady sweater… but it would be silly to point out that pattern to you, no? After that are:
Chinese lace pullover: http://ahknits.typepad.com/knititude/2006/09/index.html
and
Coraline:

Can someone magically teach me to knit faster?
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:18 am
I’ve just started the Minimalist Cardigan this about a week ago, and the way my semester is shaping up, it looks like it’ll be the only fall knitting for me!
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:34 am
I can’t wait to make some Fiddlehead Mittens. It’s getting colder up here in Canada!
October 22nd, 2008 at 9:15 am
I found your blog (which I *heart*) jusssst before you went on hiatus. Glad to see new updates this week; welcome back!
My fall knitting plan revolves around Thermal, of Knitty fame, in a very autumnal burgandy shade. I’m hoping to get through all the fine-gauge monotony in time to wear it this year.
October 22nd, 2008 at 10:55 am
What a great contest!
I’m really, really excited to knit Eunny Jang’s Ivy League Vest from IK. I’ve been gathering yarn for it for several months and finally settled on my colors. Now I just have to get some holiday knitting out of the way before I can cast on!
October 22nd, 2008 at 11:11 am
Welcome back!!!
It’s got to be the handspun shawl I’m planning on…all different shades of greens, blues, purples from a boatload of different dyers. Although with a six week old, it’s not happening anytime soon! (You did say PLAN:-)
October 22nd, 2008 at 12:55 pm
I can’t wait to knit Eunny Jang’s End Paper Mitts. I have been wanting to knit them for a long time and finally got the yarn! But i would love to knit that cowl too. : 0)
October 23rd, 2008 at 5:16 am
I think I’m finally going to get around to the Mrs Darcy Cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mrs-darcy-cardigan) that I’ve been wanting for ages
So that has me pretty excited!
October 23rd, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I’m going to learn how to knit a pair of mittens where you can remove the top part of the mitten and expose the fingers. My fingers are always cold and I think it would be really great use when I type on the computer at work.
oooh I hope I win the prize!!
October 23rd, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Most interesting knit. Well I just finished the cable luxe tunic which was veryyy interesting. Next up, the bulky cable cartigan by Stephanie Japel.
October 24th, 2008 at 11:16 am
I am aching to start on the February lady’s sweater, but must get through some gift knitting first. So glad you are back from the months away - found you because of the FLS.
October 24th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Now that I’m not pregnant anymore, I’m looking forward to knitting a February Lady for myself. Yippee!
October 25th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
I am shopping for yarn today to make the February Lady Sweater. I really liked it from the first time I saw it, and it will be one of my main projects as soon as I finish my current vest. Can’t wait.
October 26th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Welcome back, Pam! The fact that you can disappear for three months is my inspiration — time for me to disappear and get some work done. (And knitting, too; I can’t wait to get my hands on the N. Gaughan pattern coming in the next Twist Collective.)
October 26th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Welcome back!!!
I’m really REALLY pumped with enthousiasm to knit your February Lady Sweater, it’s PERFECT! And after that, the v-neck sweater on Phildar 07/08 Hiver1, page 24: http://www.phildar.fr/catalogues/catalogue-interactif.aspx.
