It’s Stacey!!

Thanks for your response to my tour schedule — I cannot tell you how fucking rad it is that some knitters might actually turn out for our shows!

Touring leaves little time for hanging out in any one place, but I’m hoping to put together some kind of pre-show or post-show gathering with knitters in Philly and/or D.C. Folks in those cities, let me know if you’d be interested!

So have you seen all the fiberliciousness cropping up on Flickr? Love it. Michigan doesn’t have any local tomatoes yet, but the ones hauled up from Georgia are pretty tasty. Also the ones shipped in from Purl, Soho.

The tomato-red Koigu from Purl was won on Ashley’s blog a while back. Koigu semi-solids — is there any yarn more perfect?

Now that the eye candy is out of the way, on to the … well, candy. My Secret Pal (STACEY!) revealed herself to me with one last awesome, thoughtful package that included some vegan gummies (apple lions and cherry sharks from Germany). I had already torn into one of the bags when I took this:

She also sent some lovely stuff from Bath & Body Works (including my favorite lip gloss), and HABU! — a cone of their silk and stainless steel yarn.

THANK YOU, STACEY!!

There’s 281 yards of the Habu, and it’s super lightweight. Any pattern suggestions?

  1. ooooh, pretty!!! that yarn totally looks like those tomatoes! very appropriately named. and what a great pal you have! :)

  2. There is no yarn more perfect.

As for the Habu–I’m so fascinated by it. Is it like wire? Will it hold a crimp? Is it something to make a little lace scarflette out of, or more like wall art?

  3. Great Fiberlicious photo! Such a gorgeous color of Koigu.

What a great package you got! Sorry I have no ideas for the Habu, but I am very curious to hear all about your knitting with it.

  4. OOhh that Koigu is to die for in my fav color!!! Love your photo shoot! :op

Glad you enjoyed your SP packages. I am wondering the same on what you will knit out of that Habu! LOL You will probably need another skein or two :op

You were FAB to spoil!!! Too bad your tour isn’t near me or I would so come and see you!

  5. i would definitely do philly!

  6. haha….. your yarn food makes me giggle. I saw an awesome scarf kit on knitpixie using that HABU yarn, I think?

  7. Webs is always near Habu at Stitches and I see the most amazing scarves knit out of that steel. It’s usually just stockinette but it takes the coolest shapes and really does behave like wire.

I looked (somewhat lazily, I’ll admit) but couldn’t figure out what band you’re in…

  8. I’m so busy eating that I forget to photograph any yarn with it. :) But you’re right. No yarn is more perfect than semi solid Koigu. None at all.

  9. Aaaaah, Habu!

Love your Fiberlicious photos - red Koigu is definitely yummy!

  10. Surfed on over from Ashley’s place…(great t-shirt btw! and your tattoo? So cool).

    Adding you to bloglines.

Nice Habu - I am obsessed with seeing what people do with it. I’ve only seen open-knit stst scarves so far. I guess you wouldn’t want to do anything too intricate since the stainless steel is the main focus…

  11. what a great fiberlicious photo!! I have to say, I wondered about the title as I spell my name the same way!

Those gummies from germany look goooood! Love the gummies! what a great pal with a great name! :)

  12. Mmm, lovin’ the tomato pics! and I have the same colorway of the Tsugumi silk from Habu. Love it.

  13. wow you are soooo lucky. Koigu and Habu! I have seen the stainless steel knit up with kidsilk haze and it looks really nice. I have also see it when someone knit with it and wool yarn and then felted it and left one size with no wool yarn. it had that deconstructed look. Wish I could remember where I saw that….

  14. Love the Koigu and especially the Habu stainless. I’m stranding it with a very thin slubby “yarn” to make a shawl, and many have made the Kusha Kusha scarf that I know you’ve seen.

  15. I’m sure I’ve seen a little bag made from it, or something very similar.

  16. Two of my favorites–tomatoes and koigu! Looks tasty to me!
