my Friday too fiberlicious for you?

Have you seen the new Flickr pool that Megan started? After taking a million gorgeous photos of fiber-as-food, she invited the rest of us to join in.

So here’s my first contribution!
Hello Yarn’s Olive Green Dyed Corriedale.

Sock yarn salad, from left to right:
The Knittery cashmere merino in Forest Moss;
Wollmeise Sockenwolle in Farn;
Sundara sock yarn in Grass.
Cherry wood bowl created by Charles LaBelle in Tawas, Michigan.

And, since I’m hungry now…

Sesame-soy salad with fake chicken bits.

Dressing: Whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar, and hot red pepper flakes. Continue to whisk, drizzling in light sesame oil until dressing comes together in a yummy way.

Toss with chopped hearts of romaine and red pepper. Cook some fake/soy chicken (I like the spicy kind for this) and cut it up over the salad. Sprinkle the whole lot with toasted sesame seeds (did this after I took the photo, which is a shame, since it was so pretty). Eat delicious salad.

  14. Update: Fiberlicious! is not confined to Fridays. It can happen any day of the week!

  15. Yummy! I wish I could get greens (to eat) as green as your yarn! Actually, I’ve seen fields of leaf lettuces on the Monterey Peninsula. They are planted in stripes maybe fifty feet wide. Beautiful!

  19. Oooh, that is a fantastic recipe and yep, we have those things in the cupboard. Hello, massive salads for dinner.
    I like to use cut-up Morningstar brand “chicken” nuggets. Have you found anything better?

  20. That salad bowl and tongs set is fantabulous. The yarn, too, but not nearly as awesome as that wooden bowl!

    Before I knew the salad was fake chicken, I thought it was panzanella and now I want to make that.

  21. mmmmmmmmmm…. i’m starving! and i could use some sock yarn :-)

  25. All you would need to entice me to actually eat that yarn is a bit of roving in olive oil colors to serve as dressing. Now where’s my fork…I mean needles?

  26. Although I’m not a vegetarian I have a mysterious love for the fake chicken, especially the spicy kind - I make little buffalo “chicken” sandwiches for lunch all the time.
